The iPhone Campaign
The world changed forever on June 29, 2007. Apple's iPhone was finally released and hundreds of people waited in line to be among the first to cradle one in their sweaty palms.
Among the throngs of nerds thronging throughout the United States was former Triad art director Justin Hutchison. He took the day off from work and sat all day with his wife outside a store in North Dallas. When the magic moment arrived, he was the first person at that location to receive the privilege of sending Steve Jobs a donation for his world-domination fund to purchase the precious wireless device.
What Justin did not know was that, in his absence, his coworkers were plotting to embarrass him. Utilizing "geekmersion marketing" (targeting a single geek with a single message and placing it everywhere in his office environment), his fellow Triadians created posters featuring the iPhone and Justin's face and plastered them on every door in the office. When he returned to work the following Monday, his face and that phone were impossible to avoid.
The result
was iFun and everyone had a good laugh. Of course, Justin had the last laugh. He had a stupid iPhone and the rest of us didn't.
